Greece is divided into nine geographic regions. The population of each region according to the 2001 census:

Reference 1: Population.

Reference 2: Aegean Islands, Central Greece, Crete, Epirus, Ionian Islands, Macedonia, Peloponnese, Thessaly, Thrace and Total.
